Chinese New Year
This week the Elderberries went on an adventure to the local park to go on a "Rabbit hunt" in celebration of the Chinese New Year.
Before we left the Elderberries were able to talk about all that they had learnt about the Chinese New Year and that this year was the year of the Rabbit, following the activities they had been doing over the last few days.
We split into three groups and set off on our quest to find all of the Rabbits around the park.
The children were tasked to work together listening to the riddles said by their allocated adult to find where the rabbit may be.
We all emphasised the rhymes in the fun riddles and the children worked together with the help of additional clues to find the picture of their furry friend. We were all super impressed by how quickly they worked out where the rabbit could be as they raced off together to see if they were correct.
Their problem solving skills were put to the test but of course no problem is too big when shared with friends.
At the end of the hunt we hopped around the park like rabbits before receiving a special treat (fortune cookie) which they then came inside to enjoy in the warm alongside a story about Chinese New Year.
